PMRA Survey on Intrepid Insecticide due Nov 25

Thursday, November 24, 2022

Many of you should have received this survey request through NSFGA or others but I just wanted to follow up with a reminder of the November 25 deadline. Please see the information below.

Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has requested use information for the insecticide methoxyfenozide. Methoxyfenozide (in the end use product Intrepid insecticide) is registered for the control of insects in a wide range of horticultural crops.

Before conducting its next risk assessment on the active ingredient, PMRA will consider grower use information received from the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) for the following crops:

FRUITS:

APPLES, PEARS, OTHER POME FRUIT, RASPBERRIES (RED AND BLACK), OTHER CANEBERRIES, CRANBERRIES, BLUEBERRIES (HIGHBUSH AND LOWBUSH), OTHER BUSHBERRIES, GRAPES, CHERRIES, PEACHES, OTHER STONE FRUITS

VEGETABLES:

BROCCOLI, CABBAGE, OTHER BRASSICA (COLE) LEAFY VEGETABLES, SWEET CORN, CUCUMBERS, MELONS, PUMPKINS, SQUASH & ZUCCHINI, TOMATOES, PEPPERS, OTHER FRUITING VEGETABLES, LETTUCE (HEAD AND LEAF), OTHER LEAFY VEGETABLES, BEANS (SUCCULENT), PEAS (SUCCULENT), SWEET POTATOES, OTHER TUBEROUS AND CORM VEGETABLES, HERBS (EXCEPT CHIVES)

For FVGC to respond effectively, growers are asked to complete this survey. Grower input on how the product is actually used is essential. In the absence of this additional information, PMRA must use the most conservative scenario during the risk assessment process (e.g., 100% crop treated, maximum possible application rates, etc.).

Responses must be received no later than Friday, November 25, 2022. Link here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BJY7MS6
