Check out these summer learning opportunities and we hope to see you there!
Monday, July 28: Tailgate Meeting at a Local Accede Demonstration Trial
This year's fruitlet thinning window was a whirlwind because of a questionable pollination period followed by a larger than expected fruit set. Meanwhile, a new product called Accede®, a plant growth regulator by Valent, is available and there was interest in using Accede as a rescue approach late in the thinning window.
Two local demonstration trials were funded by Valent in cooperation with Perennia and local growers. The products were tested on Honeycrisp, Gala, and Ambrosia. Now is the time of the season when we can visit the orchard to look at the results and discuss local experiences to prepare for next time!
Please join us for a tailgate discussion with Michelle Cortens from Perennia, Julie Schipper from Valent, and Dan Colcuc from Nufarm. We welcome your questions and hope to support your learning with this new product. What was the application strategy? How did the product perform? What are our learnings? What are other regions learning?
The tailgate session will be held at the demonstration site at Spurr Brothers Farm on Monday, July 28 at 3 PM. Please meet us at the orchard near 639 Stronach Mountain Rd in Melvern Square (see map). Bring your thoughts, experiences, and questions if you like. There is no need to RSVP and everyone is welcome to attend.
